Captain James Cunningham

Captain James Cunningham was your Great, Great, (and likely) Great Grandfather. He was a sea captain sailing out of Shelburne, Nova Scotia.
In 1840, Pirates captured his ship the “Vernon”. This occurred near Cuba after he had picked up a cargo of rum.
This is part of the story of his murder!!
So now you can say “I have some exciting and colourful history in my family”!
(And you thought there was more violent crime today!)
